The table and pie charts depict the data about how the British police received and spent money in 2017 and 2018.
Overall, the national government was the leading primary source of the police budget, whereas grants occupied the bottom-most position in both years. The highest expenditure was on salaries; however, technology was the least spent area.
Focusing on the police budget, the contribution of the national government and local taxes was increased by 2.3 and 11.1 million pounds, respectively, from 2017 to 2018. However, there was a slight increment on the budget allocated from other sources, with 38 million in 2017 to 38.5 million in 2018.
As for the budget expenditure, although the maximum amount was spent on police salaries, a 6% decline was witnessed between 2017 and 2018. Surprisingly, buildings and transport took the same amount of money in both years (17%). Additionally, the technology expenditure almost doubled in one year, increasing from 8% in 2017 to 14% in 2018.
