Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that there was a significant increase in the figure for total searchers. Additionally, the proportions of Google and Microsoft searches exhibited an upward trend, while the opposite was true for that of Yahoo.
Regarding the data for total number of US citizens who made serches, there was a noticeable increase from 4.5 billion to 16 billion throughout the observation period. Furthermore, in terms of the proportion of serches made using different search engines, Google came first at roughly 34% in November 2004, then reached its peak at 69% in September 2010. Moreover, the statistic of Microsoft recorded at 16% in November 2004, then bottomed out at 12% in April 2009 before bounced back to 18% in September 2010.
On the contrary, the figure for Yahoo underwent a downward trend. The data for Yahoo accounted for about 33% in November 2004, then slightly fell to 28% at the end of the observation period. Furthermore, the figures for AOL and Ask Jeeves remained mostly stagnant, at approximately 11% and 9% respectively.
