The table below shows percentage of consumer expenditure for three categories of products and services in five countries including Irland, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Turkey in 2002.
It is clear that in each country the consumer had spent the largest amount of money on food, drinks and Tobacoo. On the other hand, lowest percentage in the table belongs to the leisure and education.
Out of five countries, consumer spending on food, drinks and tabacco was noticeably high in Turkey, at 32.14% and Irland with 28.91%.The proportion of spending on leisure and education was also highest in Turkey, at 4.35%, where as highest expenditure on clothing and footwear belongs to Italy, at 9%.
It can be seen that Sweden had the lowest percentage of national consumer expenditure for food, drinks and tabacco as well as clothing and footwear, at approximately near 16% and just over 5% respectively. Spain had slightly higher figure for these categories, however, it had the lowest figure for leisure and education, at almost 2%.
