The table illustrates the amount of tax collected in various countries (as % of GPD) between 1975 and 2005.
Overall, all the figures witnessed an increase in the all analysed countries, with Sweden being the leader throughout the entire period.
It is noteworthy that the percentage of tax ranked first in Sweden, accounting for 46%, while USA stood at 25.1% in 1985. In the meantime, Sweden and USA increased to 47% and 25.4% in 1985 to 51% and 27.1% in 1995 respectively. From the onwards, figure for Sweden experienced a significantly rose to 70.1%, remaining the leader in all analysed countries, whereas USA showcased a moderate growth.
As for Korea and Japan are concerned, figure for former one stood around 15.1%,while figure for latter was nearly to this. Meanwhile,Japan and Korea demonstrated the growth, increasing from 23% and 26% in 1995 and 32.1% and 27.3% in 2005 respectively, and overtaking the proportion of tax.
As regards Turkey, had the by far the lowest tax rate throught the period, with reaching 27.4% in 2005, and being similar to the level of the USA.
