The table depicts the quantity of waste production (in million of tones) in six countries in 1980, 1990 and 2000.
Overall, the US had by far the largest waste production that had been increasing year by year throughout the observed period. The amount of waste production in Ireland, Japan, Poland and Portugal rose, while that in Korea decreased.
As for the countries in which the quantity of waste production grew, the US waste production, that initially accounted for 131, rose by 61 at 2000. In addition, Ireland soared from 0.6 in 1980 to 5 in 2000. Meanwhile, the amount of waste production in Japan, that was 28 in 1980, had increased by 4 by 1990 and then saw a 19 rise in 2000. The waste production in Poland and Portugal started at 4 and 2 respectively was climbed by 1 for the next year and in 2000 it accounted 6.6 for Poland and 5 for Portugal.
Considering only one country that made its waste production lower, Korea had 31 million tones in 1990 and 19 in 2000.
