The provided diagram compares the waste production quantity in six particular countries during 1980, 1990 and 2000. To note that, the amount of the waste is given in millions of tonnes.
Overall, the US produced the largest amount of waste in all years in contrast with other countries while Ireland had the least. As well as, Korea was the only country to lessen the waste output till the end of the given period.
From 1980 to 2000, the US’s waste amount reached to the top of all time, from 131 to 192 million tonnes. Meanwhile, other countries, Japan, Poland and Portugal were seen to grow as well. Japan produced 28 million tonnes of waste in 1980 and it almost doubled till 2000, equaling to 53 million tonnes. Moreover, Poland and Portugal’s waste outputs were 4 and 2 million tonnes in 1980, accounting for 6.6 and 5 million tonnes, respectively, in 2000.
When it comes to Korea and Ireland, their trend were remarkably different from those of above. Waste production in Ireland grew eight times as great till the end of the period, equaling to 0.6 million tonnes in 1980, and 5 million tonnes in 2000. Furthermore, Korea reduced the amount of waste from 31 million in 1990 to 19 million tonnes in 2000.
