The table compares six countries in terms of the amount of trash produced( in millions of tonnes) in 1980,1990 and 2000. Overall, European countries ( Ireland, Poland, Portugal) generated insignificant waste compared to the US, Korea and Japan; however, all countries saw a rise in the numbers ,except for Korea.
Looking at the non-European countries, the US produced 131 millions of tonnes of waste in 1980, reaching its peak at 192 millions of tonnes of waste in 2000, which was the highest number amidst all the countries. This followed by Japan, 1980 witnessed 28 millions of tonnes of waste output, which by 2000 rose almost twofold to 53 millions of tonnes. However, Korea that produced 31 millions of tonnes of rubbish in 1990, reduced its numbers to 19 in 2000.
Turning to the other countries, Poland, standing at 4 millions of tonnes of waste production, increased gradually to 6.6 millions of tonnes by the last year given. Meanwhile, starting off with 0.6 and 2 millions of tonnes, Ireland and Portugal, accordingly , showed similar amounts of prosuced trash of 5 millions of tonnes in 2000.
