Waste production in Japan started at 28 million tonnes. after which it experienced a consistent rise to 32 million tonnes in 1990, before ending the period at 53 million tonnes. The statistics for Ireland was at 0.6 million tonnes in 1980, followed by a growth to 5 million tonnes at the end of the period. In contrast, the share of waste emitted in Korea declined from 32 million tonnes in 1990 to 19 million tonnes in 2000.
