The given table presents the changes in different household types in Canada from 1984 to 2020.
Looking from an overall perspective, there is 5 household types, and an apparent increase in all type except Dependent children and Non-dependent children.
A close look at data in the table reveals that the share of one person type dramatically rose 6 per cent in 1984 to 12 per cent in 2020, which has double growth for nearly 40 years. Meanwhile, in the same period, the part of no children and lone parents also had a substantially upward trend, from 19 percent to 25 percent and 4 percent to 12 per cent, respectively. The highest proportion of dependent children types in 1984 sunk tremendously from 52 percent to 36 percent, which had a nearly one-in-five decline. While the non-dependent children section had a slight drop from 10 percent to 9 percent. Furthermore, the share of the type of one person, no children, independent children and lone parent kept a balance from 2014 to 2020.
