In 2001, most lawyers worked in government jobs (45% of men and 41% of women). The “others” category was also common, with 26% of men and 28% of women. Fewer lawyers worked in the private sector, with 15% of men and 17% of women. The business sector had the lowest number of lawyers, at 14% for both men and women.
By 2016, fewer men worked in government jobs (38%), but more women did (42%). The private sector grew a little, with 19% of men and 21% of women. The business sector stayed the same for men (14%) but had more women (21%). The “others” category dropped a lot for women (16%) but went up slightly for men (29%).
