The table shows the value of China’s exports in five categories between 2009 and 2010. Overall, the total exports increased by 20 percent, rising from 32.0 billion to 38.4 billion SHK.
In 2009, manufacturing equipment was the largest export at 10.3 billion, and it grew slightly to 11.6 billion in 2010, a 12 percent rise. Telecommunities also showed a big increase, from 7.0 to 11.7 billion, which was a 48 percent growth. Metals had the most dramatic change, more than doubling from 2.3 to 5.3 billion, with a rise of 127.3 percent.
On the other hand, clothing and machinery both fell. Clothing dropped from 6.5 to 5.8 billion, a decrease of 20 percent, while machinery went down slightly from 5.0 to 4.8 billion, a 4 percent fall.
In summary, although some categories like clothing and machinery declined, the strong growth in telecommunities and metals helped China’s overall exports to increase in 2010.
