The table presents information about the proportion of students who had taken a job after their first courses in four countries in the UK in 2001.
Overall, permanent employment was the most popular option in comparison with the others. Besides, the share of overseas employees was the lowest in all counries of the UK. Additionally, while Scotland was the leader among all countries in the percentage of students with a job, Northern Ireland was the most unpopular country for employment of the considered students.
To begin, the share of permanently working students varied from 20% to just under 45% among the explored countries. Whereas a temporary job was less common and their proportion altered within the interval from slightly below than 9% to 23%. Furthermore, the percentage of overseas employees did not exceed 5% in all countries.
Additionally, there is different trend in popularity of certain option of employment in various countires. In Scotland, a permanent job was the most widespread (43.6%). However, England was characterized by the most significant interest in a temporary job (23%). Besides, Northern Ireland was the leader in overseas employess (5%). In general, students more frequently got a job in Scotland.
