The table illustrates the estimated literacy rates for male and female in five regions: Africa, the Americans, Asia,Europe and Ocenia between 2004 to 2005. Overall, it is apparent that male are higher literate than female in all five regions. Around 82.2% of world population is literate.
According to the table Europe has the highest literacy rate. Reaching almost 98.8%. There virtually no different in literary rate for Europen men female. In Ocenia and the Americans the figure for both men and female are almost similar.
