The table depicts how much a secondhand bookstore in Scotland spent on different sectors in January and December of 2018. Overall, the total expense remarkably increased because of some rises in the figures for rent, professional fees, marketing, maintenance, and other expenses, with rent witnessing the most dramatic change, while the remaining sectors saw inverse trends. In addition, rent consistently accounted for the highest spending, whereas maintenance was the tiniest cost.
The total cost started at about $4700 in January, before increasing by $2000 to nearly $6600 in the last month, with rent contributing the most considerable rise, growing from around $3200 to over $4900 in December. Similar changes, but to a lesser extent, are observed for marketing and other costs, which marginally rose from roughly $260 to exactly $355, and from under $450 to shy of $600, respectively.
Conversely, the amount of money spent on wages and benefits, and utilities was at $260 and $455 in the first month, witnessing moderate drops, with respective final figures being about $230 and $270. The remaining sectors generally cost lower expenses, with equipment and professional fees standing at about $52, before experiencing different trends to reach about $40 and $130 at the end of 2018, while the figure for maintenance, the smallest cost, slightly went up from $10 to just above $40.
