The given table shows the percentage of adults in urban and rural areas who took part in four free time activities 1990 and 2010.
Overall, it can be seen clearly from the table that rural adults had the same or higher percentages than their urban counterparts in every activity. Regardless of the area, reading was always the most popular activity, whereas animated plays, instead of photography, became the least favored in 2010.
In 1990, reading was most people’s choice during leisure time, participated by 71% of rural adults and 61% of urban adults respectively, significantly higher than other activities. Only 21% and 26% of adults spent their free time playing in urban and rural areas, but even fewer people watched animated plays and chose photography, with the proportions all lower than 20%.
In 2010, more adults enjoyed reading as the percentages rose to 78% in both areas, still maintaining its dominance. It is noticeable that adults interested in photography experienced a 10% increase in both regions to around 20%, while animated plays lost popularity and became the least welcome activity, attracting less than 15% of people.
