The table illustrates the percentage of people in four different age groups who used three types of social media in a certain country over a 15-year period.
Overall, people aged 18-24 recorded the highest proportion of social networking users in 2025, while people aged 50 and over showed the slowest percentage of professional networking in 2010. In addition, it can be easily seen that usage rate in all three types increased significantly over a given period.
Regarding social networking, people aged 18-24 recorded by far the highest proportion, in 2010. This compared with 96% among the same age group in 2025. Social networking was less popular among elderly people, accounting for 19% and 52%, in 2010 and 2015, respectively.
Similarly, the percentage of 18-24 age group which used social media for video-sharing was significantly higher compared to other age groups. By contrast, young people accounted for 42% and 91% in 2010 and 2015, whereas people aged 35-49 recorded lower percentages, 20% and 64%. Professional networking was poplar among 25-34 age group in 2010, at 18. Their percentage increased dramatically to 41%, which was the highest proportion in this type, comparing to 21% among people aged 50 and over.
