The table compares the proportions of females and males who rode bicycles in one town across five different age groups in the year 2012. Overall, females were more active in cycling within each age group compared to their male counterparts. Additionally, it is also clear that cycling was more popular among younger individuals than older ones.
Looking at the people in younger age group, in 0-to 9-year-old, 52.5% of females in the town rode bicycles in 2012 – relatively higher than that of the males riding bike in this age set, who accounted for 51.2%. However, females in the 10-19 age category held a clear advantage over male ones in terms of the riding bikes: nearly a quarter of males rode bikes, whereas the percentage for females was 43.6%.
As for the ge groups lees using bikes, a notable disparity of almost 8% existed between the percentages of females and males who rode bicycles, with a clear dominance of the former, at 18.2 %. In the 40-59 demographic , 13.7% of females rode bikes, while corresponding figure for males, at only 9.3%. Despite of the women aged over 60 years old, almost a fifth of those rode bicycles, while the equivalent figure for males was 14.6%.
