The table presents data on the percentage of workers in both genders across four separate areas including catering, banking, manufacturing industry and education in the years 1986, 1996 and 2006.
It is evident that there was a similar trend in both genders, albeit at varied levels. Noticeably, education employed the significant portion of female workers, contrasting to those of male counterparts.
For men, manufacturing industry topped the list in 1986 at 32%, which saw a considerable decrease over the next two decades, halving to 17% in 2006. A stark contrast can be seen in banking, surging from 11% to 20% in 1996, then slightly rising to 21% in 2006. This is especially true for education, where there experienced a consistent rise of 1% over a decade, from 13% to 1% to 15% during the same timeframe. Catering was recorded to be relatively stable, showing an upward trend from 16% to 22% in 1996 and continuously remaining at that point.
The pattern of catering was reflected in women, indicating a stable figure at 26% over the course of 20 years. A marked growth is evident in both education and banking categories, with a similar inclement ranging from 2% to 4%. Reversely, manufacturing industry decreased three folds during the periods, representing from 18% to 6% by 2006.
