There was an increase in all the figure with Europe witnessing the most dramatic rise. Additionally, the Europe was the most popular country compared to others, while the opposite case can be seen in Middle East.
The number of people travelling abroad in 1990 was 448.9 million, then it skyrocketed to 693.7 million after 15 years. Meanwhile, Europe registered the highest figure with 280.2 million, followed by a sharp rise to 400.2 million. Asia and the pacific also shared the similar pattern, the quantity of international tourists in this country in 1990 was 60.2 million, and in kept rising to 135.8 million in 2005, overtaking America.
Regarding the remaining countries, the figure for America started the period with just 80.5 million, followed by a surge to 118.2 million after 10 years before decreasing to 113.2 million at the end of the period. However, Africa and Middle East had different trends. The latter was the least destination with just 9.8 million, which was nearly half of the former. Moreover, the year 2005 saw a small rise of 10.5 million international tourists in Africa, which was over 4 million higher than that of Middle East.
