Overall, hamburgers and fried chicken are the two most popular kinds of fast food in Melbourne during the whole period. The consumption of salads increases significantly and becomes much more popular in 2035. In contrast, fried rice and noodles remain the least popular foods and show only a small increase over time.
In 2005, hamburgers were the most commonly eaten fast food, with 40 units. Fried chicken ranked second at 35 units. By comparison, salads were much less popular, with only 5 units consumed. Fried rice and noodles were eaten in the same amount, at 6 units each, making them the least popular items in that year.
At present, the amount of hamburgers eaten falls slightly from 40 to 38 units, but it still remains the highest figure in the table. Fried chicken rises a little to 37 units and stays close to hamburgers. Salads experience a noticeable increase, tripling from 5 to 15 units. Fried rice also increases to 9 units, while noodles rise slightly to 8 units.
Looking ahead to 2035, all foods except fried rice are expected to increase. Hamburgers are predicted to reach 51 units, keeping the top position. Fried chicken will also grow to 45 units. The biggest change can be seen in salads, which are expected to increase sharply to 41 units. Meanwhile, fried rice will remain unchanged at 9 units, and noodles will increase slightly to 9 units. Overall, healthier food like salads is expected to become much more popular in the future.
