Overall, France had the highest number of visitors in both years. Most countries experienced an increase in tourist arrivals, while Hong Kong was the only country that saw a decrease.
In 2009, France received 76 million visitors, and this number stayed the same in 2010. The United States saw a small rise from 66 million to 67 million visitors. Spain and Italy also had slight increases, reaching 56 million and 45 million respectively. The UK showed a bigger growth, with visitor numbers rising from 55 million to 57 million.
Some countries had much stronger growth. Tourist arrivals in Turkey increased from 33 million to 45 million, which was a large rise. China also saw a big increase, going from 22 million to 34 million visitors. Germany had the highest percentage increase, more than doubling from 11 million to 23 million. However, the number of visitors to Hong Kong fell slightly from 10 million to 9 million.
