The table illustrates the proportion of national budget spent on education and training, as well as the engagement rate of young adults aged 18 to 24 in five different nations in the year 2012.
Overall, it is clear that Slovenia had the highest expenditure rate on education, whereas Poland recorded the lowest government spending. However, Poland achieved the highest participation rate among 18-24 year olds despite its low expenditure.
Looking at the expenditure rates, Slovenia allocated the largest share of its budget to education and training at 25%. Hungary followed with 13%, which was slightly higher than Romania at 10%. In contrast, the Czech Republic spent 9% of its government funds, while Poland spent the least amount, accounting for only 5%.
Regarding the participation rate of 18-24 year olds, Poland stood at the top with 44%, closely followed by Slovenia at 40%. Meanwhile, Hungary recorded 34% of young people participating in education. The lowest rates were observed in the Czech Republic and Romania, with figures of 27% and 23% respectively.
