Looking from overall perspective, it is evident that in 2016 there was the highest rate of adults who did not get married never, while in 1970 it was the lowest rate in Japan. In the past number of people who got married people had the highest rate in Japan.
On the one hand, in 1970 the number of adults who did not get married was only 2%, while in 1980 this number doubled and reached 4%. Moreover, year by year the proportion rate was getting higher and higher. In 1990 this number increased to 7%. In 2000, percentage of teenagers who did not have marriage had increased to 12%, while in 2010 this number already reached 15%.
On the other hand, in 1970 the number of people who got married was 1000, whereas people who got divorced had the lowest number with approximately 100 people. In one decade, people who got married decreased to 800, while the rate of divorce had experienced slight increase and hit around 150 people. In 2000, the number of people who divorced in their family reached 300 people. The number of people who get married had experienced great decrease until 2016 and hit 600 people.
