The table illustrates the percentage of school children attending four different types of secondary school both 2000 and 2009. It consists of four secondary school types: specialist, grammar, voluntary-controlled as well as community schools.
Overall, four different types of one of these schools had the highest attendance voluntary-controlled schools in the year of 2000, however, the lowest attendance was specialist schools in 2005.
To begin, the percentage of pupils in voluntary-controlled schools was around 52% and 38% between 2000 and 2005, however, it was the lowest attendance in 2009, which reached 20%. Furthermore, the proportion of children in grammar schools was approximately 24% in the year of 2000. As time went by, this school was decreasing by around 19% and 10% from 2005 until 2009. As we can clearly see the specialist schools, the small percentage of pupils attending this type of school started roughly 12% in 2000, while it declined slightly 11% as well as 10% between 2005 and 2009.
