The table illustrates the percentage of the students in an Australian university studying in six departments which are categoried by gender, native language and nationality in 2011.
Overall, women were dominant in non-STEM departments, whereas STEM attracted non-native English speakers and non-Australia borned students more than non-STEM.
Woman were majorities of Humanities, Education, Science and Physics, which participated by 72%, 68%, 52% and 56% respectively. In constrast, IT and Enginerring were chosen by less than 20% of female.
On the other hand, Humanities and Education attracted non-native English speakers at only less than 20%, Physics was chosen by 38% students who have not spoken English as first language, while the remaining departments including Science, IT and Engineering were studied by a ragne from 40% to 50%.
In terms of nationality, non-Australian studnets dominated the departments of Physics and IT at 56% each, followed by 48% of Engineering. Science had 31% of borned outside Australian students, whereas Humanities and Education had only 20% and 23% respectively.
