Regarding the number of Chinese students, Canada experienced a significant growth by 45% beginning with 5,400 in 2002. In spite of reaching these remarkable figures (around 110,000), the USA only increased by 6% throughout the period. In contrast, the quantity of Indian learners even dropped slightly by 9% starting at 200,000 in the USA, while that in Canada rose considerably by 35%, which started at 2,100.
In terms of the USA individuals who study in Canada, the year 2003 recorded a moderate increase from 5,000 to 5,450. Canada students learning in the USA also grew mildly by 7% with 31,000 in 2002. Totally, Canada saw an upward trend with 17% in the number of international learners while the USA only rose by 2%; however, the USA surpassed Canada in the quantity.
