Overall, it is clear that Masters Science consistently made up more than one fourth of the degrees chosen to be observed among qualified graduates. There have also been numerous changes in the distribution of the remaining degrees which resulted in more balance between distinct fields of studies with exception for PhD Science, which saw a significant increase over the 28 years period.
In 1980, PhD science and PhD Arts were among the 3 lowest fields that produced qualified graduates, making up a total of 15%. A tremendous increase was observed for the former of the two, rising by 17%, the figures for Phd Science was more than double at the end of the period while values for PhD art also underwent more than a threefold increase, accounting for 7% in 2008.
In contrast, there have been significant decreases for first degree arts, masters arts and first degree science, which accounted for 11%, 13%, and 10% by the end of the period, respectively. The proportion for Masters Science remained unchanged from 1980 to 2008.
