The two maps illustrate an elaborate plan of the Olympic and Paralympic village from 2002 and what it looks like at present. Overall, the village has gone through an enormous transformation.

Firstly, the athlete accommodation has doubled with an inclusion of accommodation for disabled athletes in the north-eastern area of the village. Moreover, the existing car park in the south-west has been extended and now occupies the north-western area. In addition to this another car park now takes up the north-eastern part of the village.

Further, the empty building in the south has been converted to a medical building and the media centre lies towards it’s west. The existing fitness centre has been redesigned and now stretches to the west. Also, the welcome centre has been moved to the north-west and stands just besides the village square. The road now connects both the car parks and the athlete accommodation centres. Lastly, the multi-faith centre, another new addition, was erected in the south-eastern part of the village.
