The maps illustrate the layout alterations that took place in a town between 1815 and 2015. Overall, the area underwent considerable modernization, primarily characterized by the introduction of various modern amenities and industrial infracstructure. These macro-developments effectively reshaped the landscape, with several existing features being replaced or relocated, often at the expense of natural green spaces and forestry and farmland.
Regarding the western side of the river, significant alterations can be observed during the period shown. The dense forest with larger trees previously occupying the northeast of map gave way to industrial zones. Meanwhile, the smaller trees along the river were significantly reduced, leaving only a few scattered trees near the new hospital. The original vacant lot was demolished, making way for the construction of hospital.
Turning to the remaining parts of the map, which comprise the eastern side of the river, additional developments occurred. Hall Farm, which previously occupied the central area, gave way to the construction of a large school. A new airport was introduced along the river bank, while the period saw the emergence of a new hotel to the south of Dalton Hall. In stark contrast to these major modifications, Dalton Hall located in the eastern part remained completely unchanged throughout the timeframe.
