The two maps illustrate the transformation of Denham town in 1986 and its current appearance.
Overall, the Denham town has experienced the clear development from a largely rural area with considerable farmland and open spaces into a more urbanized residential area with an increase in housing and community facilities.
In 1986, the town had a predominantly agricultural function. There is a bridge from the north section on the main road, which the River Stroke goes through under the bridge, remaining unchanged in the present. Along the main road, there were several houses, shops, one post office, and the primary school belonging to the road. Additionally, near the primary school, there was a garden containing trees and three huge houses. The two farmlands are also located on both sides of the west and east of the road.
In the present day, both farmlands has replaced by housing developments, especially in western and eastern sections. The shops that once stood beside the post office have now been removed, but the post office still remains. In addition, the primary school has expanded in size, possibly to adapt to the growing population. The garden has been converted into a retirement home with two extra-large houses; this shift might be the adaptation of the town’s demographics and services.
