The maps illustrate how Kingston’s University Hospital had changed from 1990 to 2020.
Overall, the hospital infrastructure was expanded to cover the farmland adjacent to the territory. In addition, a road network, enabling transportation between the blocks and the parking was developed.
One noticeable change is the construction of a new medical block to the east of the hospital in order to separate the flow of patients. The western building was converted to an emergency block and connected with the Nessan’s road through a new ambulance entrance, while the inpatients had been transferred to the eastern building. The ambulance entrance had been constructed to the west of the main entrance, which had been turned into a public entrance.
The parking was extended to the remaining part of the farmland. A road network, featuring three roundabouts controlling the traffic on the territory, was constructed to connect the parking space with the public entrance and the hospital buildings.
