The two pie charts illustrate the distribution of energy used for different houshold purposes in Australia in the year 1995 and 2015.
Overall, the most noticeable features are significant rises of figures for refrigeration and other appliances. However, heating and water heating witnessed decline, while the percentage of lighting remained unchanged.
Looking first at the percentage in 1995, the majority of energy was used for heating and water heating, accounting for about 40% and 30% respectively. Nevertheless, other three categories (refriferation, lightning and other appliances) made up only 30% together.
By 2015, the proportion changed considerably. Figures for heating and water heating experienced dramatic drop to approximately 30% and 25% respectively. Nonetheless, category ‘other appliances’ increased sharply, making up 20%. Similary to the percentage mentioned above, the figure for refrigeration grew to about 15%. The percentage of lightning remained the same, accounting for 10%.
