In Canada and Australia, the highest and second-highest marital statuses are those married and separated. However, Australia has more married people (46%) compared to Canada (29%), but Canada has more legal separation cases, which make up 53% of their population, while there is only 41% in Australia. Simultaneously, the number of divorced and widowed individuals in both countries nearly share a similar figure, with a marginal gap of 1% each.
Nevertheless, unlike Australia, never-married and same-sex marriage is witnessed in Canada, accounting for 7% and 3%. Similarly, single people only appear in Australia, at about 5%.
