The pie charts compare the percentage of distribution of online retail sales across four different sectors in Canada in 2005 and 2010.
Overall, electronics and appliances dominated in online sales in both years, although its declined slightly in 2010. Whereas, video games and food and beverage increased substantially with becoming the leading category by the end of the period. In addition, home furnishings followed an opposite trend.
In 2005, sales for electronics and appliances accounted for the largest share with 35%, following by home furnishings at 25%. By contrast, food and beverage sales were lower than home furnishings by 3% (22%) and video games with the lowest share at 18%.
After 5 years (2010), despite electronic and appliances sales fell by 5%, it remained the highest figure, while home furnishings dropped dramatically to 15%, making it the least popular. On the other hand, video games and food and beverage experienced rapid rose to 23% and 32%, respectively.
