The pictures below illustrate Petersburg Art Museum before and after undergoing several changes.
Overall, the museum underwent significant expansion. While some facilities were removed to make space for enlarged galleries, several new rooms and institutions were also introduced. However, the lobby and ,,classroom 1″ remained same as before.
Firstly, in the original plan, about one-third of the building was occupied by the modern and ancient art galleries, yet after the redevelopment, the sculpture gallery ceased to exist.
Secondly, although indoor sculpture area has been taken down, outdoor sculpture institute has been established, increasing the total area the museum occupied. Alongside this, cafeteria, which includes various proper equipment, has been added to the east side of the museum.
To take everything into consideration, the several features of the museum and the total area as well have slightly increased in size. Despite the fact that several facilities remain, some of them have changed and expanded. Lastly, there is one new institute built inside the site and the other one which is located outside.
