The maps illustrate the transformations that have taken place in Australian zoo from 1960 to the present.
Overall, the zoo has experienced significant changes, with the additional of a ferry and the cable car to facilitate the movement of visitors. While the harbour has been redesigned, two entrances have been added at the top and bottom of the map.
It can be seen from the maps that by relocating the harbour from the northeast to the northwest, a ferry has been built to carry passengers across the river. This ferry has been located on the first entrance. While the seal show and the African animals have been relocated to the middle of the zoo, birds and chimpanzees have been removed. By doing that, the wild animal area has been constructed on north of the Australian animal area which has stayed the same.
The second entrance has been added at the end of the main road. Notably, the position of picnic area has remained the same, but the size has become smaller. Meanwhile, the cable car has been introduced in this empty area, assisting the movement of tourists to wide area. The gift shop has also remained next to the seal show in the Southern part of the zoo.
