The four pie graphs illustrate data about the passengers of four British airports – Gatwick Airport, Heathrow Airport, Luton Airport, and Stansted Airport – with different purposes, which are visiting acquaintances, going on holiday, and working in 2016.
Overall, it is evident that the passengers who were going to visit their friends or family accounted for the largest share in all airports, except for Gatwick Airport. In addition, there were few people traveling for the other reasons.
As can be seen from the chart, the percentage of people who traveled to visit their relatives or friends in Luton Airport and Stansted Airport was almost equal, which was 50% and 48%, respectively, followed by the figure for Heathrow Airport (35%) and Gatwick Airport (30%). Additionally, the proportion of people going on a holiday in Gatwick Airport was 54%, it far exceeded that of the other airports. Notably, this percentage in Heathrow Airport, Luton Airport, and Stansted Airport was relatively the same, at 35%, 36%, 36%, correspondingly.
Turning to the remaining categories, 26% of passengers in Heathrow Airport traveled because of their business, compared to 18% in Luton Airport and 14% in both Gatwick Airport and Stansted Airport. The figure for other reasons in Heathrow Airport was 4%, doubling that of the other airports (2%).
