Band 7: Two maps show the change of coastal town, called Petland, from 1950 to 2007 (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The given map depicts a coastal town, called Petland, and how it has developed from 1950 to 2007.

Overall, there have been siginificant changes in housing and facilities, as well as slight modifications to the infrastructure over the period.

First of all, regarding sea located to the north, it has been transformed to be a yatch marina. Additionally, roads have been expanded to cover the area around the dock. Multiple shops were constructed alonside the intersection.

The car park have been moved from the east side, to the west, occupying the area that was previosly an industrial zone. A swimming pool and a park were built between the parking and the yacht marina.It can be observed that, the parking was modified and made into a multi-story car park to accommodate more vehicles. To the northeast of the town, several residential buildings were added , following the coastal line.

The southeast side of Petland was transformed, from being a grassland to the area filled with multiple houses, that have been separated with addition of new road branch. Cinema was constructed on the opposite side of the road.
