The line graph delineates wheat exports in Australia, Canada and European countries over a six year period, from 1985-1990.
Overall, while Canada was leading country until 1988, European countries surpassed it across the years 1999 and 2000. Meanwhile, Australia had the smallest share throughout the period, except for 1986.
In 1985, Canada stood up with roughly 20 million tones of wheat exportion. It remained the leading figure until 1988, in which hitted the highest point of around 25 million tones. However, in 1988, this figure significantly dropped to less than 15 MT, thus, being surpassed by the European community’s figure with about 19 MT, for the first time. The EU remained the largest exporter by the end of the period, reaching approximately 21 MT.l, slightly higher than Canda with around 19 MT.
Australia on the other hand, being the smallest contributor, started with around 15 MT in 1988, moderately less than EU with about 17 MT. Nevertheless, in 1989, Australia with around 16 MT overtook EU with about 14 MT. However, in the following years, Australia in spite of EU followed a downward trend, falling to the lowest point of around 11MT in 1990.
