Dear Sarah,
How are you? I hope everything is going well with you. I want to tell you about New Year celebrations in Korea.
New Year is an important holiday in my country because it is a time for families to get together and show respect to older family members. Many people also make wishes for good health and happiness in the coming year.
In Korea, we celebrate the Lunar New Year, which is called Seollal. Before the holiday, people often travel to their hometowns to visit their families. During the celebration, we eat traditional food such as tteokguk, a rice cake soup. We also bow to our elders and receive words of advice and sometimes money from them. Many families play traditional games together as well.
My favourite thing about Seollal is spending time with my family. Since everyone is busy with work or school, it is a great chance to relax and make special memories together.
I hope you can experience Seollal in Korea someday!
Best wishes,
Dayul
