The diagram illustrates the comprehensive process of recycling aluminium cans.
Overall, there are six steps to recycle aluminium cans. The process begins with the collection of used cans from residents and continues through several distinct stages before being reused by consumers.
To begin with, the recyclable aluminium cans are placed into designed bins, which contain only aluminium cans, by inhabitants. From those bins, they are easily gathered at the recycling centers, where they are cleaned, sorted, shredded and finally compressed into blocks. After that, those blocks continue to be heated at a high temperature.
Following the heating of those blocks at a suitable temperature until they are melted, workers will roll them into sheets, which are 2.5mm to 6mm thick, in order to be transferred to the recycling institutions. At the recycling institution, new cups will be created by the processed materials and delivered to consumers. Finally, the percentage of new cans that are reused is 74% in the UK.
