The graphs describes the changes in UK industry steel from 1970 to 2000.
Overall, the demand and production of steel in UK both decreased considerably, while the steel imports increased moderately.In addition, the number of people working in UK steel industry witnessed a downward trend over 30 years.
In 1970, there 50000 employments worked in Uk steel industry,before undergoing a significant fall in 1980, with 40000 peoples.Next in 1990, this figure has been halved.In the end of the period , a slight decline was seen in the number of people working in UK steel industry , about 17000 persons.
Turning to the second graphs, in 1970,both value changes of total demand and production of steel were particularly high at 200000 tons and about 170000 tons respectively,while this figure for steel import was nearly zero.Next ,in 1980 , there was a considerable decrease in production to approximately 130000 tons,which marginally fall to 90000 tons in 1990. During the same period, demand also declined to 100,000 tons. There was a slight rise in the value change of steel import to 50,000 tons in 1990. In addition, this figure also went up significantly and was almost equal to production.
