The line graph describes changes in production levels of three main fuel types in the UK between 1981 and 2000. Petroleum was the most produced fuel since 1981 till 2000. At 1981, natural gas’s produced units were at the lowest but it significantly overtook coal at 1990s and reached to the second position.
In 1981, Petroleum started with 90 units approximately and rose to 140 units in 1984. After being constant for two continuous years, it sharply declined to 100 units in 1990. Then, it steadily rose to the 140 at 2000 with very little fluctuations. At initial years of 1990s, production rate of natural gas was really stable and it started to rose significantly at 1991 with around 50 units. In 2000, it took the second place by 100 units.
Production rate of coal started with 80 at the beginning but it declined over 20 units in 1984. In 1986, coal was produced 60 units and remained constant over 3 years. But it declined continuously in later years and became the least produced fuel in 2000.
