The given diagram illustrates the cycle of the water in two differents locations : forested and urban areas.
Overall, while both areas are characterized by precipitations, the cities tend to have polluted runoffs.
On one hand, the water cycle in both areas start with precipitations attending nature in places like forests but buildings and streets in urban places. While analysing the diagram, we can see that in forested areas several majors mechanisms will happen like evaporation, transpiration,baseflow and infiltration through permeable topsoil additionnally to less permeable subsoil on rocks. However these mechanism are reduced in the urban areas.
On the other hand, the cities experience some increased erosion that the forests doesn’t face. In the nature, runoffs will be seen as results for this water cycle. However in the urban areas, these runoff are rich in pollution because of the human activities like industry, buildings, throwing garbage on streets, whereas the forests doesn’t face.
