The chart illustrates the percentage of male adults who smoke in seven countries across 4 different continents and then overall in thee world in the years 2000 and 2015.
Overall, we can clearly see that in most countries, smoking has substantially decreased. We can also observe that smoking was the highest in 2000 for most countries and generally for the world.
To start off, we can see that in 2000 over 60% of the male population were in fact smokers, but by 2015 there was a major decrease by around 10%. Bangladesh had an even more drastic change where in the year 2000 the percentage was just over 60 but by 2015 it had dropped down all the way to just under 40%. We do habe other countries that experienced a decrease in male smokers including, Australia, Mexico, and Cuba, but the change isnt as drastic as America and Bangladesh. The entire world actually had a decrease in male smokers by almost 10%.
On the other hand, some countries, although rare had an increase in male smokers. Succh countries include, Egypt and Lebanon which had a rather drastic change. Egypt had a percentage just over 35% in the year 2000 and it rose to almost 50% by 2015. Lebanon had a similar change from jsut over 35% in the year 2000 which went up to over 40% in 2015.
