Dear Jay Jin,

I hope this letter finds you well. How was your first semester at university in Korea? I’m excited about all your stories about new school and friends. You know what? I’ve been studying Korean for a while now. I wanted to keep it a secret to surprise you when you come back to Vietnam for summer vacation. However, I am feeling so hard to learn a new language and don’t know how to take more steps on this challenge. Could you give me some advice on how to climb over this mountain?

The main reason I want to learn a new language is because I will get a lot of benefit with a tourist guide position in Da Nang city, a famous travel destination for Koreans. Moreover, this thing is not worse if I can learn more languages which let me become more professional in my job. I would have more interesting conversations with Korean friends and help them fall in love with our city and country.

Truthly, learning a language like Korean isn’t easy. While I’ve memorised the Hangul alphabet, I’m unsure of what steps to take next. I bought some exercise books, listened to the conversation mp3 files and try to repeat them whenever I have free time. Maybe it is not really effective because I don’t have so much time to practise skills with working hours ending at 7pm. If you have a bit of time at night, can you show me some faster ways to learn Korean? In all of them, speaking skill is my weakest part.

I’m unable to fully express all my study challenges in this email. Can I have a call with you this Saturday night to talk about those steps?
