Band 9: You borrowed a significant amount of money from a friend and are now unable to repay it on the agreed date. Write a letter to your friend explaining the situation. You should include details about: - the original agreement and repayment date - the reasons why you cannot repay the loan on time - a proposal for an alternative repayment plan

Note: Both the topic and the answer were created by one of our users.

Dear Kay,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to you about the money I borrowed from you last month. As we agreed, I was supposed to repay the full amount by 20 December.

Unfortunately, I am facing some unexpected financial difficulties. A sudden expense came up, and my salary was delayed, which has made it impossible for me to repay the loan on the agreed date. I truly regret this situation and understand that this may cause you inconvenience.

I would like to kindly ask for your understanding and propose an alternative repayment plan. I can repay half of the amount by 10 January and the remaining balance by the end of January. If this plan does not work for you, I am open to discussing another option that would be more convenient.

Thank you very much for your patience and support. I truly value our friendship and will do my best to resolve this matter as soon as possible.

Warm regards,

Yana
