Dear Austin,

I am Reshma Joy, a 32 year old software engineer interested in farming and agriculture. I have recently come across an advertisement on your organization’s Facebook page regarding the tree planting programme. I really appreciate your initiation to work for a better environment.

I understand that you are expecting volunteers for planting trees from the advertisement. But could you please also mention in detail about the responsibilities of reach volunteer roles. I guess the roles include digging, watering and other maintenance tasks.

I have a vegetable garden and farm land around my house. Hence, hopefully I can assist other volunteers by sharing my knowledge on trees and plants. I have also participated in similar programs.

I am happy to be a part of this community service, This is a great example for our future generation. Hope this programme be a great start and success.

Thanks,

Reshma

Task Response

The letter appropriately addresses the task by introducing yourself, mentioning where you saw the advertisement, asking for information about volunteer roles, and explaining your interest. However, there are a few minor omissions and lapses: the request for role details could be more specific (e.g., asking about different types of roles rather than just responsibilities), and the explanation of interest could be more directly linked to the tree planting programme. To improve, ensure each bullet point in the task is fully covered with clear, relevant details, and avoid vague statements like 'I guess the roles include...' by phrasing it as a direct question. The letter falls short of the required 150 words.

Coherence & Cohesion

The letter is generally well-organized and easy to follow. The introduction, request for information, and explanation of interest are clearly separated. However, the final paragraph could be more smoothly integrated, and the transition from asking about roles to explaining your interest feels slightly abrupt. Consider using linking phrases like 'In addition' or 'Furthermore' to improve flow.

Lexical Resource

You use a good range of vocabulary, such as 'initiation,' 'maintenance tasks,' and 'community service.' However, some phrases are slightly informal or imprecise, like 'I really appreciate your initiation' (better: 'initiative') and 'I guess the roles include' (better: 'I assume' or 'I understand'). Try to use more natural collocations, such as 'volunteer roles' instead of 'reach volunteer roles.'

Grammatical Range & Accuracy

There are several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings that affect clarity. For example: 'I have recently come across an advertisement on your organization's Facebook page' (correct), but 'I really appreciate your initiation' should be 'initiative.' Also, 'could you please also mention in detail about the responsibilities of reach volunteer roles' has a typo ('reach' should be 'each') and is slightly wordy. The sentence 'Hope this programme be a great start and success' should be 'I hope this programme will be a great start and success.' Punctuation is mostly correct, but the comma splice in 'I am happy to be a part of this community service, This is a great example' needs a period or semicolon. To improve, proofread carefully and use a wider range of sentence structures.
