The maps compare the present existence of Islip town center and its proposed plans for future. Overall, apparently the town center will see significant changes with the construction of new road, which creates a circle around the town, and new facilities. Moreover, some amenities will see modifications in size.
In detail, at the moment, there are some shops in between the main road, two residential areas, one in the center and the other in the south of the town. Furthermore, there is a school in the southwest and a park in the northeast.
According to the plan, the main road will no longer pass through the center, instead, it will circle around the town. Additionaly, it will be expanded and become dual carriageway. All the present shops in the north will be combined in one large shopping center which is situated in the middle of bus station and car park. A new housing area will be located in the northeast of the site. Furthermore, the shops in the middle will remain the same and above it there will be a path only for pedastrians. The housing area in the center will be demolished and reconstructed in the east and west of the town. Finally, the park in the southeast will be dwindled and the school will be enlarged.
