This chart presents information about monthly expenditures of a family in the USA on three basic items, in the first quarter of 2010.
Overall, we can see, that every month was considerably different, however, if we look at the average amount spent, after a similar first two months there was a slight increase, and then a noticable drop.
According to the diagram, families spent just over $300 in January and February. The highest amount of monthly expenditure, was just above $400, while the lowest was slightly below $300, in March and April respectively.
Among the 3 selected items, it is relatively difficult to say, which was the most, or least popular. However. it is interesting to see. that people spent the most amount of money on clothing every second month, while in the other months, the least amount was spent on this item. Furthermore, families spent over $400 on food, in the first 3 months, and spent below only in April, as opposed to gas, which for they payed less than $400 in the first 3 months, and way above this margin in the last month.
